Forms Of Light Energy Examples
Light energy can be classified as several types.
Forms of light energy examples. Items such as light bulbs and television screens give off this light energy. It is a type of electromagnetic energy. You can do these things because of light energy.
When atomic bombs were tested the entire regions were illuminated with intense light. There are invisible forms of light energy or light energy we cannot see such as infrared ultraviolet radio and x ray light energy. Our eyes change visible light energy waves into something we can see.
When a powerful bomb is exploded there is emission of light due to intense heat generation. Electromagnetic refers to the way the energy travels in wavelengths in electric and magnetic. Light energy is also known as electromagnetic energy.
Light energy is measured with two main sets of units namely radiometry which consists of measurements of light power at all wavelengths and photometry which measures light with wavelength weighted with reference to human brightness perception. Photometry is useful for example to quantify lighting intended for human use. Electromagnetic energy or radiant energy is energy from light or electromagnetic waves.
Only visible light can be seen through the naked eye. Light energy can also be converted into thermal energy when for example the sun heats up your black shirt or a brick wall outside. In above examples energy of another forms like heat fission reaction is converted to energy of light.
The main source of visible light is sun and it can also be emitted by lanterns flashlight light bulbs etc. Even a burning candle is an example for light energy. Radio gamma rays x rays microwaves and ultraviolet light are some examples of electromagnetic energy.
